about
Welcome to Disillusioned Funk's single: "Think Too Much".
A little background about this song - It came to me just after I signed a business deal. A deal that I knew in my heart of hearts was a bad choice. I opened the door, was on 23rd street of New York City, and had no idea what I was doing with my life. Suddenly the phrase "I'm thinking that I'm lost" came into my head and a melody started pumping.
Instead of taking the subway to where I lived at the time (in Inwood), I chose to walk. 3 hours and 10 miles later, I had walked almost all of Manhattan and had almost written this entire song in my head. Then it took me years to work up the courage to record the darn thing. Do I now know where I'm going in my life now? No. However, I'm grateful for feeling lost at times. It usually leads to brilliant discoveries. Other times it leads to terrible choices, but that's for another time...
Enjoy the song and I'm looking forward to sharing the rest of the stories soon.
lyrics
I’m thinking that I’m lost
I think I lost my mind
I think I’m striking out
And falling far behind
I think I’m blowing up
I think I’m falling down
I think I’m on the ground
but my feet can touch the clouds
I’m thinking that I’m sick
When really I’m unwell
And if I go it won’t
be just to heaven or to hell
I’m thinking that I’m wrong
I’m thinking that I’m right
I’m thinking there are way
too many things to think at night
I’m thinking that I’m tall
When really I’m so small
I may just disappear
And not even exist at all
I’m thinking it’s too soon
Or maybe it’s too late
And while I’m in this state
Why do they have to operate
And cut into my life
Well I don’t think it’s fair
But when I look around
is anybody really there?
I’m think this is despair
I think that I’m aware
Is anybody there
Is anybody there?
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
Oh won’t you please help me
And tell me I’m alright
Cause I’m thinking we’re ahead
When really it’s all tails
A fifty fifty chance
That we might not prevail
I think you talk too much
I shouldn’t really care
But when I’m listening
All I hear is your despair
And maybe it’s all false
Though I think it’s the truth
That every nation
Always preys upon its youth
I’m thinking of these facts
And how to intervene
When our whole lives
Seem to exist inside a screen
And now I’m all knocked out
And in a gown I lie
Because my body chose
to stop and twist and turn inside
I’m thinking about true love
And if it’s even real
As we all turn away
In search of our our next filling meal
I’m thinking about the poor
I’m thinking about the rich
I’m thinking just how sad it is that we are in this sit -
uation thinking how to solve
What we can’t even see
The problem stems from you
And then especially from me
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much much much much much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
Oh won’t you please help me
Just turn off my mind
I think I think too much
I think I think too much
I think I think too much much much much much much much much much (much)…
